Ihushi

IDC runs a preschool with 35 children (5-6 year-olds) from families that live near the centre. The children are at the preschool in the mornings, 08-12. Two staff, Helena Justine and Gaudencia Mayayi, are responsible for the activities. They have no teacher training, but they take care of the children in a good way – with both warmth and authority. There are several municipal preschools in Ihushi and neighbouring villages, but the gaps as regards facilities and resources are evident. It is, for example, not uncommon  with only one staff for 80-100 children. To encourage improvements, a joint training venture started in 2013. Read more!
